The Madcap Brewery website has been developed to provide our customers with information about the Brewery, its Beer range and about our plans for its future development.

The Madcap brewery started life as a one barrel, capacity brew plant, operating from a purpose built building at the rear of our family home in Annan.

Production started during November 2009 with the launch of our first cask ale, Annandale Black at the ‘Cavens Arms’ in Dumfries with the help and support of the local branch of CAMRA.

However we very quickly ran out of brewing capacity and by April 2010 we were forced to begin searching for larger premises to expand into. Late August 2010 witnessed the move to an industrial unit in the village of Ecclefechan and the installation of a new 5 barrel brew plant, which now affords us the capacity to produce a wider range of cask conditioned ale.

Madcap are also committed to continuing the development of our unique range of bottle conditioned strong ales, which includes old traditional, contemporary and new world style beers, all made with a dedication to craftsmanship and quality. Please use the links below or scroll through our web pages to learn more about us and our unique range of cask and bottle conditioned ales.

We intend that all of our bottled beers will be bottle conditioned, this is a long, expensive and of course a truly traditional process... but we think it is well worth it! as we consider quality must never be compromised. We believe one of our strengths is the ability to produce a full and diverse range of interesting beers, produced by hand crafted methods in small batches of limited edition special or seasonal bottled conditioned ales, all of course, for your pleasure.
